CORRECTION OF GUMMY SMILE

Abstract

|
A "Gummy Smile"-in which the gum is visible between the lip and apex of the incisors-is felt by many patients to be unaesthetics.
This disfiguration has, therefore, been a challenge to those in the field of plastic and reconstructive surgery.
We have operated on six cases of gummy smiles with closure of labial-gingival sulcus, myectomy of the levator labii superioris, and the combined procedure.
This article describes the experience of correction for gummy smile and reviews the literatures.
